April Ross
April Ross, a beach volleyball star from the United States She is one of a small group of women who have won medals in multiple Olympics. Alix Klineman, playing for the first time at Tokyo's Olympic Games, will try to earn her third gold medal. Ross's aim is to get her first Olympic Gold. With her age of 39, this may be her final opportunity to claim an Olympic gold. She's certain that the top prizes are in reach. Ross said on NBC Boston that if they play their best, or even a good game and they are able to play well, the team can win a gold medal. That's why I'm taking a little bit of luck also. Ross was born on the 22nd of October, 1982. She was raised in Costa Mesa California where she lived with her parents and sister. Ross competed in many activities while at Newport Harbor High School. Being a pre-athlete she was also a participant in indoor track and volleyball. However, she was a standout at this level. During her high school career she played middle blocker, outside hitter and setter at the tennis court, according to her college bio. She was awarded the Gatorade National Circle of Champions player of the Year in 1999 due to her accomplishments. The skills she showed in volleyball also earned her the Orange County Athlete of the Years trophy in 2000. Ross has been working with Klineman from 2017. However, Ross's beach game had been established long before this. Actually, Ross has won several important tournaments throughout her career along with her two teammates. One of them is a volleyball legend. For six years from 2007-2013 she played with Jennifer Kessy who more recently served as her and Klineman's coach. Alongside Kessy Ross was a force on the international stage, claiming the world championship in 2009. This duo went on to win a silver at the 2012 Olympic Games at London. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) and Misty Maytreanor clinched gold beating them to it. Ross Jennings was May-Treanor's replacement as she left the team. They won the beach volleyball bronze at the Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross participated in the Trojans at USC during her the college years following her graduation from in high school. And her run at USC was one to remember. She was an All-American and Pac-10 freshman of the year in 2000 as a young freshman. The Trojans were also able to make it to the Final Four. She was devastated by a tragic incident in her sophomore years, yet she went on to be an All-American in her second year. Through her last two years in the program she led the Trojans towards the summit of the mountain netting three consecutive championships at the national level. Individually she had cemented herself as an all-time legend by winning the 2003-2004 Honda Sports Award as the most outstanding female college volleyball player. Ross studied international relations at USC. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, never had the chance to watch Ross' daughter blossom into a beach volleyball superstar. Ross's mother passed away from breast carcinoma in the year 2001. Ross had just become a second-year student at USC. But, she will always keep her mother's memory close and close. Margie is a beach lover as well as in her everyday life, continues to inspire her.
