Jazz performer Nancy Wilson a three-time Grammy Award winner was born on February 20 1937 in the city of Chillicothe, Ohio. Her parents were ironworker Olden Wilson and the former Lillian Ryan who worked as a housekeeper. Nancy is the eldest of six siblings. Within a short time she began singing at The Blue Morocco Night Club located on Boston Road near The Bronx. Adderley's representative saw her singing and instantly took her on. The first was focused on R&B, but under Adderley's influence, she began to embrace jazz. It was this performance that brought her to the stage in the New York Coconut Grove in 1963, America's most popular nightclub.
